Marily Rea Health Fund
Dear Community Members and Friends,
As Marilyn’s family, we want to tell you about what life has brought her way. This woman that so many of us love so much has found herself facing her largest challenge, that of fighting for this very life she has shared with us all.
Marilyn has been a Waldorf teacher and active member of the community for over 25 years. She was the first kindergarten teacher at Shining Mountain Waldorf School when it opened in 1983. She then taught at the Upland School and afterwards, for many years, nurtured the little ones in her own home-based Waldorf kindergarten. In addition, Marilyn shared her teaching talents with the Blue Sky and Boulder Waldorf Kindergartens. For the last 6 years, Marilyn has taught the Sheperd Valley Waldorf School Moonflower Kindergarten, giving them the same wonderful introduction to Waldorf Education, with the same love and energy, for which she has come to be respected and loved.
Marilyn’s generous heart, endless enthusiasm and selfless service have touched countless lives, inspiring both young and old. There is no doubt at all that Marilyn’s extensive knowledge and experience have helped to enliven and build our community from the very beginning. And if she has touched all of these children with her purpose and passion, one can only imagine who she is as a devoted mother to her daughter, Jamel, and teenage son Dagan; loving grandmother to Jamel’s children, Rowan and Kyla; and as a cherished wife, caring sister and available friend.
This woman has a life that has always supported and held so many. Her energy and light have shone forth from her, touching and tempting all to grow, laugh, and learn. She has been the one that teaches, the one that cares for, nourishes, holds and heals. Marilyn has rarely understood the meaning of truly allowing others to give to her, and now, Life is bringing her the opportunity to be the student, to understand deeply what it is to receive help and support when she needs it the most.
Marilyn was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. Its extent at this time is uncertain. She has been at a medical institute that embraces a comprehensive approach to healing, including cutting edge alternative treatments in combination with the most advanced practices of western medicine. Due to the seriousness of her condition, it was imperative that she began receiving treatment immediately. It is unknown how long she will need to receive her treatments and we have found that insurance will not cover these costs, which will most probably be upwards of $70,000-$100,000.
The truth is we are seeking financial help from those of you whose lives she has touched. We are asking for any financial assistance you can offer us…you who are currently a part of the community to which she has willingly given so much of herself, you who have had children whose hands and hearts she has held dear to hers, and from any of you as caring friends that are moved to share these resources. Your financial resources will help to pay for her treatments and will directly represent a means to support and increase the life energy she is needing for her healing.
If you are moved to help Marilyn in this journey, please do…it is an opportunity to give to a life that has given so very, very much.
To make your tax deductible donation make checks out to: All Seasons Chalice. Marilyn Rea Health Fund must appear on the memo line. Please mail checks to Jamel Rea Renfree, 2105 Upland Avenue, Boulder, CO 80304.
“For the love of community, she mended fences. For the love of the stars, she let her light shine.”*
…..For the love of Marilyn….please help us.
Thank you so very much. … Debra Scott, Jamel Rea Renfree and Family
